STARRY NIGHTS SERIES
Mark your calendars for live music & dancing under the stars with our annual FREE outdoor concert series! One of our most popular Wilson Center summertime traditions, Starry Nights boasts performances by acclaimed local and regional artists across a wide range of genres including classic rock, Afro-Cuban, Latin jazz, bluegrass, country, and more—perfect for families and audiences of all ages. And don't miss our annual Classic Vehicle Night on July 13 and our Veterans Photography Night Exhibition on August 3!
All performances begin at 6:30pm in our Gerlach/Haack Outdoor Theater. Audiences are welcome to pack their picnic baskets and lawn chairs; food and beverage vendors will also be available onsite for each concert.*
CONSTRUCTION ALERT: construction is taking place this summer on Capitol Drive and Barker Road at Capitol Drive is scheduled to be closed for a 14-day period beginning Monday, August 7. *Our 2018 Starry Nights Food Vendors include Bake Street Café, Brew City Snowball, Jericho’s BBQ, M Catering, and Pop’s Kettle Corn. The Gerlach/Haack Outdoor Theater offers lawn seating only. Join us as we kick off our 2018 Starry Nights concert series with a ten-piece classic rock band featuring a driving four-piece rhythm section, a four-piece smokin’ horn section, and a sweet vocal duo that will blow the roof off of any venue.
July 6 @ 6:30PM • Jason Gillette and the Showtime Big Band
The swinging sounds of the big band return to Starry Nights! A collaborative celebration of Greater Milwaukee-area professional musicians led by Brookfield Central High School Music Department Chair and acclaimed woodwind artist Jason Gillette, this timeless concert is perfect for audiences of all ages.
July 13 @ 6:30PM • The Rockin’ Robins (Classic Vehicle Night)
Celebrate the Wilson Center’s sixth annual Starry Nights Classic Vehicle Night with Milwaukee’s own Rockin’ Robins, featuring music of the ’50s and ’60s. (Vehicle show entry begins at 4PM, no pre-registration required. Entry is limited to the first 300 vehicles. Click here to learn more.)
July 20 @ 6:30PM • CNJ Latin Jazz
It’s a night of hot Latin Jazz under the stars! Featuring original compositions, Latin favorites, and re-invented jazz standards, CNJ Latin Jazz blends rhythms and harmonies from the Caribbean Islands with an exciting and intense front line of guitar, vibraphone, and trumpet.
July 27 @ 6:30PM • Armchair Boogie
Featuring a “newgrass” feel that’s not afraid to delve into the realms of folk or country, Armchair Boogie packs the traditional essence of bluegrass with an extra oomph guaranteed to bring even the saddest uncle to the dance floor.
August 3 @ 6:30PM • Whiskey Belles (Veterans Photography Night)
Celebrate the sounds of summer with Milwaukee’s own WAMI award-winning all-female traditional country and Americana trio! The Whiskey Belles are known for their take on classic and obscure vintage-country, Americana, folk-revival, and roots-country tunes, with witty originals sprinkled in. Audiences are also invited to join us in our Lynn Chappy Arts Education Wing for a very special exhibition, Veterans in Focus: “Exploring the Milwaukee Community through Photography." August 10 @ 6:30PM • Irish Fest Sound Sampler
Two beloved summer traditions combine as we celebrate our final Starry Nights of 2018 in collaboration with Milwaukee Irish Fest! Lift your feet, drinks, and spirits as we dance under the stars to the sounds of Limerick Partnership scholarship award winner Aisling Lyons, as well as one of Milwaukee’s favorite Irish music trios, athas.
