Who

Anyone age 16 and above with reliable transportation and physically capable of operating a shovel, salt spreader, leaf (snow) blower, or small and large two-stage snow thrower are welcome to apply.

Have a friend that wants to help? Up to three people can sign up for any given snow removal “shift”.

Where and What

There are a lot of sidewalks around the Wilson Center, and many doors. We need to keep all of the walkways to-and-from our parking lots safe for patrons and employees to use, and every exit must be useable whenever the building is occupied (about 360 days a year).

Here’s a diagram of what that looks like. It’s a lot! For any given light snow it takes one person about one hour to clear everything one time.

When and How

The walkways must be safe whenever the building is open (typically 8:00am to 9:00pm - it varies a little and we’ll let you know precisely when we’re open for each sign-up). It’s even MORE important to keep the walkways clear before and after an event, when we could have up to 800 people of all ages visiting.

We have all the equipment needed. If you want to bring your own, we won’t stop you (unless the equipment is unsafe to operate).

This is now just free-form text snippets that need to be crafted into useful info to get the rest of the terms and conditions done:

This is totally separate from Crew Calls.

  • I’m kinda thinkin’ we let the official sign-up process be a little like what we do with Overhires - there’s a probationary period where we just pay via check. They sign up for more than 20-40 hours of shifts and we convert them to iSolved.

  • Are we gonna do background checks for initial sign-ups?

  • If you sign up for a time slot and it snows, and we have people in the building, you need to come to the center and clear the walkways and emergency exits

    • See the attached diagram for detail on what needs to be cleared

  • You agree to be available as needed during your “on call” time for snow removal (IE: if a giant drift forms across a path, we can call you in even if it’s not actively snowing)

  • Special attention will be paid to known events at the Center, but it’s your responsibility to keep things generally clear during the hours signed up for

    • We are generally open every day of the week, with some kind of activity taking place from 8am to 9pm

  • You’re expected to arrive at least 90 minutes prior to the start of a scheduled Harris or Dawes event (because hundreds of patrons can begin arriving 45-60m before a show)

    • Example: Event starts at 7:30pm, patrons arrive as early as 6:30pm, you need to start clearing our front walk by 6:00pm to be ready for patrons

  • You’re expected to arrive at least 30 minutes prior to a scheduled building open time

How do I get paid?

    • Existing overhires will use iSolved / PayrollComplete; first-timers will be paid by check (and added to PayrollComplete)

    • When you arrive on site, punch in under “Snow”

    • It typically takes about an hour to clear a light snow from everything one time. You’ll be paid for 2 hours.

    • If you need to come back more than an hour later to clear snow again, a new “instance” starts – another 2-hour minimum period

    • If it is actively snowing and you need to keep clearing snow / salting, hang out and have a hot chocolate as needed

    • You’ll be paid via direct deposit on the normal 2-week schedule

      • The link below will not work until you have been given permission to it

    • First-timers: please contact Stuart Jacobs by responding to this email, or calling, or texting: 262.373.5025.

      • We need a minimum commitment of 10 “shifts” (or 50 hours of “on call” time) to get you signed up

      • Shifts are in 5-hour blocks: Morning (7am to noon), Afternoon (noon to 5pm), Evening (5pm to 10pm)

    • Existing part time folks - just click the SignUpGenius Link or scan the QR Code below.

      • If you want to sign up for large blocks of time, email / call me ASAP to save time

      • You might need to create a free SignUpGenius account

      • If you already have an account using a different email address and you’d like us to use the other email address, let me know

      • If the link above didn’t work, copy/paste this into your browser: https://www.signupgenius.com/go/70A084AAFAC2DA1F58-53491098-wcsnow

    • If you sign up and then your schedule changes, you can use SignUpGenius to swap with others or cancel your shift (PLEASE let us know if you need to change less than 48 hours in advance)

SIGNING UP - how to. Max three slots per shift. Can trade slots.
