In the second half of my life, I found myself unexpectedly beginning again. After years as a commercial photographer, focused on precision, composition, I felt drawn to a more intuitive way of making art. Enrolling in a mixed media class at the Wilson Art Center opened that door.
What I didn’t expect was the community that formed there. Our small group of women stayed together through three consecutive classes, growing closer as we experimented, encouraged one another, and shared discoveries. With the support of an inspiring instructor who valued curiosity over perfection, I slowly developed a cohesive body of work.
My process now is rooted in intuition, connection and the joy of blending my own photographs with found imagery to create new narratives. I’m drawn to contrast, surprise, and the way fragments of memory or imagery can come together to suggest a story and meaning.
This exhibition reflects the evolution of that journey, one shaped not only by personal rediscovery, but by the creative energy of the women who walked alongside me.
