Author Event with Lori Rader-Day: Death at Greenway

  • Sharon Lynne Wilson Center for the Arts 3270 Mitchell Park Drive Brookfield, WI 53045 (map)

The perfect historical Halloween treat for our daytime audiences, join us as we partner with Milwaukee's Boswell Book Company and Oconomowoc's Books & Company for this captivating author event, moderated by Milwaukee Journal Sentinel Senior Director of Digital Strategy (and huge Agatha Christie fan!) Rachel Piper.

During World War II, ten displaced children stayed at Agatha Christie's country home, while London was bombed by the Germans. Inspired by this fascinating, little-known fact, Death at Greenway re-imagines what it would have been like to hide away from the war in a murder novelist's house. The result is a dark, twisting novel about nurses who come to Greenway to care for evacuated children … but when a body is discovered nearby, the idyllic setting becomes host to a deadly mystery.

About the Author: Described as “one of crime fiction’s strongest and most compelling voices,” Lori Rader-Day is the Edgar Award–nominated and Anthony and Mary Higgins Clark award–winning author of The Lucky One, Under a Dark Sky, The Day I Died, Little Pretty Things, and The Black Hour. She lives in Chicago, where she is co-chair of the mystery readers’ conference Murder and Mayhem in Chicago. She was the 2020 national president of Sisters in Crime.

About the Moderator: Not only is Rachel Piper a massive Agatha Christie fan and award-winning editor, writer and digital strategist, but she also worked as a bookseller for more than a decade in Salt Lake City. Rachel now lives in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, with her husband, three cats, and an entirely reasonable number of books.

General Admission: $25 (includes admission, paperback copy of book, taxes, and fees).
