Les Paul - The Legendary Guitarist & Performer

Saturday, August 19, 2017 • 3:00 - 4:30 PM

Sponsored by the Les Paul Foundation
Presented by Brad Smith, with special guest Sue Baker

Join us at our fifth annual Wilson Center Guitar Festival for a complimentary audio/visual presentation on Les Paul’s guitar technique and unique approach to performing, composing, and agitating. Born, raised, and buried in Waukesha (the next community west from the Wilson Center), Les is best known as the endorser name of Gibson’s world-renowned, solid-body electric guitar, however, he was first an amazing guitar player, entertainer, arranger, and inventor.

This presentation will look at Les Paul’s life from a guitar player’s perspective. Many audio and video samples will be presented to illustrate Les’s contribution to the guitar playing world; understanding his fresh approach to technique and use of technology will inspire today’s guitarists. Attendees will take away ideas that can applied to their own playing and approach to composition, performing and recording. These ideas are timeless.

Presenter Brad Smith, is a guitarist and executive at the world-leading publishing company Hal Leonard. Brad was also part of the team that assembled the permanent exhibit “Les Paul - The Wizard of Waukesha” at the Waukesha County Museum. Special guest is Sue Baker, close friend of Les and Program Director of the Les Paul Foundation.

This presentation is free and open to the public to attend. Space is limited and advance registration is recommended.
