Michael Foster Transitions June 5–July 25, 2008 Michael Foster, a full-time art teacher at Waukesha South High School, has spent his career developing a teaching technique that empowers students to develop their own ideas and become their own insightful teachers. A recent graduate of Cardinal Stritch University with a Masters in Art, Michael was commissioned to produce a series of paintings for the Waukesha Public Library which now hangs in the entryway of the new addition. He was the 2006 Hidden River Art Festival’s Best in Show, and has been accepted into the 2008 Festival. Michael Foster uses his natural interest in working with people to find the primary subject matter of his art: the human figure. His art focuses the attention on the subject, with minimal detail in the background and searching for highly expressive personalities. Michael deliberately paints the background using colors from the figure so that the finished piece harmonizes with the subject. |
