Leo Lionni’s classic Caldecott Honor books, Swimmy, Inch by Inch and Frederick, are brought to life through Mermaid Theatre’s gentle puppetry and imaginative lighting. Swimmy is a tiny fish who uses his ingenuity to fend off danger. Frederick, a poetic mouse, makes everyday life an artful experience. A lovable inchworm shares his facility for measuring absolutely everything.

Based on the book by Anne L. Fox, this compelling drama tells the real-life story of the 1938 Kindertransport–the movement of over 10,000 Jewish children out of Germany and Austria–and a young girl’s struggle to bring meaning out of despair. The result is a gripping and poignant production, a tribute to the strength of the human spirit, and a child’s courage in the time of war.

Walk On: The Story of Rosa Parks

What is a baby bat to do when an owl knocks her out of her mother’s grasp? Little Stellaluna is lucky to land in a nest of baby birds, but her adopted family expects her to act like one of them! Eventually Stellaluna is able to show her bird siblings what life as a bat is like. Based on the charming book by Janell Cannon, this moving performance combines puppetry and song to tell the tale of discovering and accepting similarities and differences.
