The Playboy Guide to Jazz proclaims, “With his hearty sound and bristling ideas, Mark O'Connor can bowl over even a jaded follower of post-bop jazz.” For nearly two decades, Mark O’Connor has been a part of the Chicago and Milwaukee music scenes as a performer, composer, and educator. His critically acclaimed debut CD, Mirage, spent eight weeks on the JazzWeek national radio charts and his tune “The Sound of Joy” was recently awarded an Independent Music Award.  Formed in 2001, the Mark O’Connor Quintet is driven by original and fiery straight ahead jazz and has performed at some of the Midwest’s most prestigious venues, including The Green Mill, The Elbo Room, The Skokie Theatre, The Jazz Estate in Milwaukee, and many more.
