Del McCoury Band

For fifty years, Del McCoury has defined the authenticity of bluegrass music. He is a living link to the days when bluegrass was made only in hillbilly honkytonks. He was first introduced to bluegrass through his older brother’s 78-rpm record of Flatt and Scruggs; a half-century later, the Del McCoury Band has won nearly every honor the genre has to offer, including a Grammy and three dozen IBMA awards. He still maintains a commandingly vital presence with prominent performances including A Prairie Home Companion with Garrison Keillor.

The band’s latest release is Celebrating 50 Years of Del McCoury, a retrospective five-disc box set, featuring Del McCoury, guitar; Ronnie McCoury, mandolin; Rob McCoury, banjo; Jason Carter, fiddle; and Alan Bartram, bass.
