The Seasons Project Robert McDuffie, Violin Soloist with the Venice Baroque Orchestra October 22, 2010 Thank you for coming. Academy Award®-nominated American composer Philip Glass (The Hours, Notes on a Scandal), whose repertoire also includes music for dance, theater, chamber ensemble, orchestra, and opera (Einstein on the Beach, Satyagraha), re-imagines Vivaldi’s famous violin concertos in this uplifting concert featuring violinist Robert McDuffie and one of Europe’s premiere ensembles, the Venice Baroque Orchestra. The Orchestra plays Vivaldi's The Four Seasons on period instruments and bows then switches to contemporary instruments for Glass’ The American Seasons. With only 28 performances in the U.S., this concert was a rare concurrence of the finest American and European classical music. |
