Whether serving as sideman for luminaries James Brown, Ray Charles, George Clinton, or Bootsy Collins—to more recent collaborations with the Dave Matthews Band and the Red Hot Chili Peppers—Maceo’s unique rhythmic and rapid playing style and equally fiery vocals are the very essence of soul and funk music.
