Arts Camp 2008

Monday–Friday, June 23–27, 8:30 am–3:15 pm

For students entering Grades 1–6

Sponsored by American Family Insurance, Children's Hospital & Health Systems, and RBC Wealth Management

Explore the work of famous visual artists, musicians, dancers, choreographers, actors, and playwrights. Teaching artists from First Stage Theater Academy, Milwaukee Art Museum, Milwaukee Ballet School, and Wisconsin Conservatory of Music will roll up their sleeves to help your child discover their own creative talents as they explore the lives, styles, and techniques of famous artists from yesterday and today.

Campers enjoy a full day of hands-on fun as they discover the great artists of the past and present, and stretch their own imaginations through drama activities, dance and movement, music, and visual arts.   

Intensive Sessions and Master Classes

ALL Campers will participate in special intensive sessions in each of the four disciplines (art, music, theater and dance), and meet working artists who will share their talents.

 

Friday Finale 1:30 pm

During the final Friday, Campers can share the fun and demonstrate what they have learned with family and friends. Mark your calendars to join in the celebration!

Dance Camps

Monday–Friday, July–August

Danceworks’ offers dance camps at the Wilson Center all while never losing sight of the fun dancing brings! Get inspired to move and keep moving!

Each camp integrates dance and visual arts along with music, drama, or creative writing. Family and friends are invited to a grand finale during the last 30 minutes of camp on Friday.

 

Half-Day Dance Camps

Commotion in the Ocean (Ages 3–4)

Dive into a deep sea adventure to discover the magic of salt water creatures and "see-scapes" in creative movement, color, and sand!

Monday–Friday, July 21–25, 9:30–11:30 am

Jurassic Art (Ages 4–5)

Stamp your passport and travel through time to the peaceful kingdom of "Dinotopia,” a home of prehistoric giants and friends, and learn to map and dance the Jurassic track alphabet!

Monday–Friday, August 11–15, 9:30–11:30 am

Full-Day Dance Camps

 

Radical Rainforest (Ages 6–8)

Create a Canopy Theater for puppetry and performance, and become exotic bugs, insects, and animals to tell their rainforest secrets.

Monday–Friday, July 21–25, 9:30 am–3:30 pm    

$235 / $210 BackStage Member           

 

EARTH Steps (Ages 8–10)

Through activities designed to educate and empower, play in nature's playground to learn how you can become an Earth Keeper. Campers will create artful ways to save their environment, and step out to music and dance in a menagerie of their original stepping stones and sculptures from nature's gifts.
